Botswana
Botswana’s natural wonders may be Africa’s best-kept secret. Nearly 20% of the country is protected as national park, with major highlights being Chobe National Park and Moremi Game Reserve, together with the world’s largest inland delta, the Okavango Delta.

Botswana is a true wilderness, there is no shortage of wildlife, but it should be noted that the animals move around considerably and are not always easily found. Botswana has purposely aimed for and achieved a policy of high-income, low-volume tourism with some of the safari camps and lodges rivalling the world’s finest.

The original inhabitants of the region were Bushmen, only a few of whom continue to live the traditional life of the hunter-gatherer, with Tswana, a Bantu language, spoken by over 90% of the population.

The best game viewing period is from April to October when the days are sunny and there is little chance of rain. During the winter months from May to July the mornings and evenings can be very cold.
